I get many responses to my videos. Here are some that I wanted to reply to for my show on the local Christian radio station.

  1. Most cults mingle truth with error, the Hebrew Roots Movement and its sub-cultures being no exception, as it is a quirky off-shoot of Herbert Armstrong’s Church of God. So, while counterfeit Christianity is Rome/Constantine-based, the Hebrew Roots Movement is Church of God based.

Two primary teachings make the Hebrew Roots Movement a cult and anti-biblical. The first is the polytheistic belief that the son of God is also God Himself, which is tantamount to idolatry by breaking the first command. Those who equate falsely claim that Jesus is God cannot know either the Father or the Son.

God is light. In Him is no darkness at all, I John 1:3. No man has ever seen or heard God for this reason. He cannot interface with imperfection, which is why He uses messengers (angels, prophets), His chiefest messenger being His sent Son, Jesus Christ. And, which is also why He forsook Jesus when Jesus took on the sins of the whole world on the cross.

Binitarians and Trinitarians are forced to admit that God Himself (either in form or substance) was delivered as an infant from a human womb, grew in wisdom and stature to Himself, prayed to Himself, was beaten by angry men, forsook Himself on the cross, was His own sacrifice, and died, and is now His own right hand.

Scripture teaches that God is one, that He ALONE created all things by the breath of his mouth, Ps 33:6-9, and that He has a son, who was begotten at his resurrection from the dead, Acts 13:26-37, which is why Jesus is the “firstborn from the dead”, I.e., the first person to be given immortality (eternal life) by God, John 3:33.

II John 7-9 is gives the doctrine of Christ … that Jesus came in mortal flesh and blood like us. It is a gnostic idea that he didn’t REALLY die. Being flesh and blood means being mortal, prone to die. It is antichrist to believe that Jesus was not flesh and blood, prone to human death like we are.

The second error in the Hebrew Roots Cult is the two-house teaching in an effort to humanly attempt to reunite Judah and Emphraim. God will do this, not people, and it will be done just as the holy days teach. Briefly, the first resurrection at the return of Christ is the stick of Judah, I.e., all who qualified from Adam to the return of Christ by keeping the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus, Rev 14:13.

We know from Rev 7 that Emphraim is NOT listed in the group that qualifies for the first resurrection, but we know from Ezekiel 37 that the stick of Emphraim is joined with the stick of Judah AFTER the resurrection of the rest of the dead, Rev 20:5.

The holy days teach God’s time table for the redemption of mankind, the stick of Judah (all qualified believers from Adam to the return of Christ) or the first resurrection saints, then the millennial reign of Jesus Christ where many will believe, and also, when the thousand years is finished, the rest of the dead (from Adam through the millennial reign of Christ) will be raised to life and a short season will ensue that gives all an opportunity to hear the truth and make a decision.

This invitation from God is foreshadowed in John 7, at the end of the Feast of Tabernacles, the Last Great Day of the feast, when Jesus stretches out his arms and says, “if any man thirst, let him drink, he that believes, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water”. This same invitation goes out in Rev 21:6 prior to the very final Great White Throne judgement. All of this group who believe (people who died in the flood, pygmies who never heard the gospel, people who were deceived in this age, etc., etc.) are symbolically “Emphraim”.

Jesus spoke of these “two folds”. Paul summed it up aptly, “And so, all Isreal will be saved.” Rom 11:24. Ezekiel 37:16-17 … Judah (first resurrection saints) and Ephraim (the prodigal son/ those who believe during the millennium and after the resurrection of the rest of the dead) will become one people … and so, ALL ISRAEL will be saved. (Israel=all circumsized of heart, Rom 2:28-29.

This is what the Bible teaches in opposition to most of the popular teachers of the Hebrew Roits Movement and related off-shoots. False teachers like Rico Cortes are muddling the truth with extra Biblical, dark, cabalistic influenced teachings.

It is God’s spirit that teaches the meaning of scripture, not men, I John 2:27… He gives His spirit to those who obey Him, Acts 5:32, so they may put together scripture in perfect harmony.
