Torah Portion #20 Tetzaveh (Exodus 27:20-30:10)
The priestly garments are the main topic of this Torah portion. However, we cannot ignore the connection between the sacrifices and Yeshua Messiah. I explain the connect and why we are the true priests today.
“You are to summon your brother Aharon and his sons to come from among the people of Israel to you, so that they can serve me as priests.” -Exodus 28:1
“The garments they are to make are these… -Exodus 28:4
Torah Portion # 19 T’rumah (Exodus 25:1-27:19)
In this weeks Torah Parashah, Our Creator tells Moses the instructions for building the Tabernacle. The Court yard, the Tabernacle itself and everything inside it. He is warned to follow the instructions exactly the way he is shown.
They are to make me a sanctuary, so that I may live among them. You are to make it according to everything I show you – the design of the tabernacle and the design of its furnishings. This is how you are to make it.
-Exodus 25:8-9
Torah Portion #18 Mishpatim (Exodus 21:1-24:18)
I’ve always had a hard time understanding or explaining this Torah Portion about slavery, death and other laws giving by Moses after the ten commandments were giving.
After much study and prayer I now understand this portion better.
Much of these rulings were spoken about because they were common issues at that time in Egypt and Our Creator didn’t want these things to be an issue in the promised land.
I’m presented this Torah portion teaching in a different format than I usually do so please let me know what you think.
Torah Portion # 17 Yitro (Exodus 18:1-20:26)
In this Torah Portion the 10 commandments are giving on Mount Sanai to Moses and to the children of Israel.
The Ten Commandments
And The Creator spoke all these words, saying: “I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
- You shall have no other gods before me.
- You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, Yawheh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
- You shall not take the name of the The Creator in vain, for Yawheh will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Yahweh your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore Yawheh blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Yahweh the Creator is giving you.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Torah Portion # 16 B’shallach (Exodus 13:17-17:16)
In this Torah Portion we see the children of Israel leaving Egypt. They were now free but the lifestyle of Egypt didn’t leave them. Their lack of faith even form the beginning of this journey reveals why it took them 40 years to make the trip to the promised land.
The main verse in this Torah Portion that I often quote is Exodus 15:26
If you will diligently listen to the voice of Our Creator, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commands, and keep all His Statures, I will put none of these disease upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians. For I am the Creator who heals you.
This is the first of many times Our Creator says to Moses;
“How long will you (the children of Israel) refuse to observe my commands and teachings? (My Torah)
Torah Portion #15 Bo… (Exodus 10:1-13:16)
In this Torah Portion we see a scripture being fulfilled;
Then Our Creator said to Abram, “You can be sure that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign land , where they will be oppressed as slaves for 400 years. But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great wealth.” -Genesis 15:13-14
And the reason why the children of Israel suffered for 400 years in Egypt…
And Our Creator said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you so My wonders can be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” – Exodus 11:9
Torah Portion #14 Va’era (Exodus 6:2-9:35)
In this Torah Portion Moses spoke to the people of Israel who Our Creator had told him, but they wouldn’t listen to him because they were so discouraged, and their slavery was so cruel. Than our Creator sent plagues in Egypt and the people listened.
Torah Portion #13 Sh’mot (Exodus 1:1-6:1)
This is the first teaching in the book of Exodus and is about the record of events of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and development as a nation. Four hundred years had passed since Joseph moved his family to Egypt. These descendants of Abraham had now grown to over two million. To Egypt’s new pharaoh, the Hebrews were foreigners, and their numbers were frightening. Pharaoh decided to make them slaves so they wouldn’t upset his balance of power. As it turned out, that was his biggest mistake. This weeks reading show’s how Our Creator rescued His people!
Torah Portion #12 Vayechi (Genesis 47:28-50:26)
In this Torah teaching, Joseph is reunited with his brothers and father Jacob. Jacob blesses Judah, Joseph and his sons Efhraim and Manasseh.
Torah Portion #11 Vayigash (Genesis 44:18-47:27)
Joseph could no longer control his feelings in front of his attendants and cried, “Get everybody away from me !” So no one else was with him when Joseph revealed to his brothers who he was. Genesis 45:1
