Introduction to Leviticus
The overwhelming message of Leviticus is the holiness of Yahweh – “You must by holy because, I, the Creator, is holy” Leviticus 19:2. But how can unholy people approach a holy God? The answer – first sin must be dealt with.
In Leviticus sacrifices, priests and the sacred Day of Atonement opened the way for the Israelites to come to Yahweh.
Torah Portion #23 P’kudei (Exodus 38:21-40:38)
This Torah Portion is the end of the story of Exodus. Moses laid out the steps, but Ithamar supervised the project. Yahweh didn’t ask Moses to build the Tabernacle but to motivate the experts to do it. Every single detail was followed according to Yah’s plan. The Tabernacle was finally complete to the last detail. Moses was careful to obey all the instructions exactly.
“Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of Our Creator filled the Tabernacle” -Exodus 40:34
Torah Portion #22 Vayak’hel (Exodus 35:1-38:20)
In this Torah Teaching I talk about, the construction of the Tabernacle and the instructions for the Sabbath. Our Creator gave the instructions to all the community.
Then Moses said to the whole community of Israel -Exodus 35:4
Torah Portion #21 Ki Tissa (Exodus 30:11-34:35)
In this Torah Teaching I talk about, money for the Tabernacle, the anointing oil, the incense, craftsmen; Bezalel and Oholiab.
In Chapter 32 I explain one of the most dreadful acts to ever take place, the breaking of the Torah with the golden calf.
The main message of this teaching is there are 3 main consequences for breaking Torah;
1-Plagues
2-Death
3-Being cut off from the community.
Torah Portion #20 Tetzaveh (Exodus 27:20-30:10)
The priestly garments are the main topic of this Torah portion. However, we cannot ignore the connection between the sacrifices and Yeshua Messiah. I explain the connect and why we are the true priests today.
“You are to summon your brother Aharon and his sons to come from among the people of Israel to you, so that they can serve me as priests.” -Exodus 28:1
“The garments they are to make are these… -Exodus 28:4
Torah Portion # 19 T’rumah (Exodus 25:1-27:19)
In this weeks Torah Parashah, Our Creator tells Moses the instructions for building the Tabernacle. The Court yard, the Tabernacle itself and everything inside it. He is warned to follow the instructions exactly the way he is shown.
They are to make me a sanctuary, so that I may live among them. You are to make it according to everything I show you – the design of the tabernacle and the design of its furnishings. This is how you are to make it.
-Exodus 25:8-9
Torah Portion #18 Mishpatim (Exodus 21:1-24:18)
I’ve always had a hard time understanding or explaining this Torah Portion about slavery, death and other laws giving by Moses after the ten commandments were giving.
After much study and prayer I now understand this portion better.
Much of these rulings were spoken about because they were common issues at that time in Egypt and Our Creator didn’t want these things to be an issue in the promised land.
I’m presented this Torah portion teaching in a different format than I usually do so please let me know what you think.
Torah Portion # 16 B’shallach (Exodus 13:17-17:16)
In this Torah Portion we see the children of Israel leaving Egypt. They were now free but the lifestyle of Egypt didn’t leave them. Their lack of faith even form the beginning of this journey reveals why it took them 40 years to make the trip to the promised land.
The main verse in this Torah Portion that I often quote is Exodus 15:26
If you will diligently listen to the voice of Our Creator, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commands, and keep all His Statures, I will put none of these disease upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians. For I am the Creator who heals you.
This is the first of many times Our Creator says to Moses;
“How long will you (the children of Israel) refuse to observe my commands and teachings? (My Torah)
Torah Portion #15 Bo… (Exodus 10:1-13:16)
In this Torah Portion we see a scripture being fulfilled;
Then Our Creator said to Abram, “You can be sure that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign land , where they will be oppressed as slaves for 400 years. But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great wealth.” -Genesis 15:13-14
And the reason why the children of Israel suffered for 400 years in Egypt…
And Our Creator said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you so My wonders can be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” – Exodus 11:9
Torah Portion #14 Va’era (Exodus 6:2-9:35)
In this Torah Portion Moses spoke to the people of Israel who Our Creator had told him, but they wouldn’t listen to him because they were so discouraged, and their slavery was so cruel. Than our Creator sent plagues in Egypt and the people listened.
