Yeshua Said… (Matthew 4:7,10,17,19) Part 3

by on February 16, 2016

This is the third episode of the Yeshua Said series. In this episode, I cover Matthew 4:7, 4:10, 4:17, 4:19. Some people claim the New Testament replaced the Old Testament, making it obsolete. We see in the first words spoken by Yeshua that he continually quoted the original covenant. It has been renewed, but there is nothing that was done away with. It says in the Scriptures not to add, delete or change any word. Claiming the original covenant is no longer valid is taking away most of the Scriptures and also many of the words of Messiah Yeshua.

I have a question. It is written in Mark 7:14-23, “Hear me, all of you and understand. There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.” And it goes on from there. Would that not make the laws about food null and void? I realize Yeshua is speaking about the tongue and the heart of man but it clearly states that what goes into the stomach is expelled. Earlier in 7 the Pharisees ask Yeshua about his disciples not walking in the way of the elders. Then in Mark 10 the Pharisees ask Yeshua about divorce and he replies, ” Because of your hardness of heart he gave you this commandment…and then proceeds with the truth about divorce since the beginning of creation. So it seems to me that not everything in the Torah was to continue according to these statements. But, I would like to know your thoughts on this. I am not an expert on these matters. I only seek truth. There are many other examples of this, and it can be very confusing. Because Yeshua quoted from Deuteronomy quite often, and then there are times when he gives an answer that is different.
