Why Christian Women Should Wear A Headcovering

by on April 03, 2013

Here is a question I answered about women’s head covering.

Question:
Can you explain again to us women why it’s important to cover your hair if it’s not specifically spoken about in Scripture? For those of us that are still unclear on the issue since it’s such a debated topic.

Great teaching Paul. I have worn a head covering for several years now after the Ruach hakodesh placed it upon my heart. I was a professional model for 20 years and it was very hard to do, because I was used to being ‘looked at”. I have to say that since I have been wearing it, the blessings and teachings have been abundant. Ladies, If The Lord puts it upon your heart, do it and He will teach you amazing things about who you are in Him. It changed my life in so many ways. Not every woman is called to wear one, so if your heart doesnt feel it, no worries! Shalom !!

  2. Thanks for a great video Paul. Love that multitasking, filming while drivingl! I had been seeking the Lord on headcovering for several months until I finally got it – they are very important, as is modesty on all levels like you were discussing. An article I read gave an added perspective you probably know about also.. regarding the Tabernacle, we know it is such an example to us as to our worship and our own bodies being called a tabernacle as well. ALL the items of the tabernacle were DOUBLE Covered, as items near & carrying the GLORY of God. That is supposed to be us!!! All these things you discussed need to be considered by people. So often, if not most of the time, we do NOT know what we do, praise Him for His forgiveness, and His mercy and lovingkindness are forever!! Well, thanks for all you do Paul, you are a great inspiration to our family! Shalom shalom. 🙂 Terri

    Paul,

Very well presented and I think you did so in humbleness. However…… how do we get around Deut 4:2 and Deut 12″32 where we are not to add to or take away from the Torah? IT would almost appear that YHWH was not thinking correctly since he “Forgot” to put this in the Torah. Paul even stated “We have no such custom” regarding head coverings.
That said….. I do enjoy a lot of your teachings and YHWH bless you.

Hi Tom, I present the wearing of a headcovering no where as a Torah command but as a step towards modesty in today’s world full of women who worship their hair. Many even uses is as a sex symbol. A women has to be ready to be set apart if she decides to wear one. also on my modesty videos I talk about even more how headcoverings are a blessing for women who were them. Again, no where do I say it is a command. Thank you for your reply tom. Shalom

    The Lord showed me this:
    Second witness of Pauls statement.

    Genesis 24:65

65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

    God Bless <3

  5. Yrs back i was reading the Word and very clearly
Ruach Kodesh said to me ‘What are you doing?’ I answer and said I am reading the Word. Then He said ‘Why is your head not covered?’ I got such a fright I jumped up went to town and bought me a covering. I do not read Word or pray without it. I must admit I do not always wear my covering when I go out but do wear my hair up and not loose. Rut

I watched interviews you had done with young women about covering their heads a few years ago. It really bothered me that it came across that the woman’s hair was considered to be very intimate, as if sensual. After giving it considerable thought over the last couple of years and researching the topic in general, I’ve come to the realization that women’s head/hair coverings belong to nearly every religion. Mennonite, Amish, Catholic, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist nuns, Muslim. They are particularly prevalent in all Middle Eastern cultures where there is religion that heavily oppresses its women and treats them as possessions expected to be subdued and controlled by men. This is not spiritual or beautiful. It is the oppression of women, conveying the idea that she needs to be hidden from humanity. Society improves dramatically in places where women are honored as equals and are not held under the thumb of religious men. I gave this idea a fair shot, but in the end I find it entirely offensive.

      • I submit to you that an additional spiritual dimension for those engaged in spiritual warfare and whose eyes have been opened exists. The verse has to do with the angels… I’m don’t want any angelic hosts confused or tempted. We live in perilous times and we are being persecuted. It demonstrates to ALL angels the protection HaShem gives to his beloved. Pray we elect will see and do.
